Congress started its “Vote Chori” (vote theft) campaign today, asking the Election Commission to be transparent about voter lists. The Commission responded, saying Rahul Gandhi must either reply to an earlier notice from Karnataka’s election office within the given time or apologize to the nation.
The campaign, led by Congress’s Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, claims there was major vote fraud in the 2024 general elections, especially in Karnataka’s Bangalore Central area.

Through its website votechori.in and a call-in number, the campaign asks people to help fight for fair elections and accurate voter lists.
Tomorrow morning, INDIA Alliance MPs will march from Parliament to the Election Commission’s office to protest alleged issues with SIR and voter lists.

The “Vote Chori” campaign began on August 10, 2025, with the launch of votechori.in.
The site lets people demand digital, machine-readable voter lists, download alleged proof of vote theft, report election fraud, and get a digital certificate signed by Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, and Ajay Maken.
Supporters can also join by giving a missed call to 9650003420, after which they get an SMS link to register.

On X, Rahul Gandhi said, “Vote theft attacks the core idea of ‘one person, one vote.’ A clean voter list is essential for free and fair elections. We urge the Election Commission to be transparent and release digital voter rolls so people and parties can check them.”

Congress alleges that over 1 lakh fake voters in Bangalore Central’s Mahadevapura area helped the BJP win the Lok Sabha seat. They warn that similar voter fraud in 70–100 other constituencies could harm free elections.

The campaign’s website shows a video of Rahul Gandhi calling the 2024 polls a “huge criminal fraud,” accusing the BJP and Election Commission of working together.

It claims the BJP is attacking the very foundation of Indian democracy—the vote—with the Election Commission’s support.

Congress leaders and supporters are promoting the campaign online, sharing certificates and spreading allegations of election fraud.

The campaign started after Rahul Gandhi’s August 7 press conference at the party office, where he accused the BJP of tampering with over 1,00,250 votes in Mahadevapura. He said this was done using duplicate names, fake addresses like “House Number 0,” mass registrations, wrong photos, and misuse of Form 6.

According to Congress, these issues helped the BJP win Bangalore Central by 32,707 votes, even though Congress won six of the seven assembly segments there.
