Rakesh Roshan, famous for films like Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish, owns a lavish resort-style home in Khandala worth about ₹120 crore. He gave a tour of the mansion on Farah Khan’s YouTube channel, sharing that since he was “born in a garage,” building a big house was always his dream.
Spread across 22,400 sq. ft. on a five-acre hilltop estate, the house is surrounded by lush forests and offers stunning views of the Rajmachi Hills. Designed by architect Grigoria Oikonomou of Sibha Grigoria Private Limited, the white mansion includes a beautifully landscaped garden and feels like a private resort. Farah Khan herself called it grand and breathtaking.

Rakesh Roshan, born as Rakesh Nagrath, entered the world in a garage in Bombay when his father, music director Roshan, was still struggling. After losing his father at 17, he began assisting in films while hoping to make it as a lead actor. Though he acted in 94 films, most of his lead roles failed, forcing him into supporting and even villain roles. Despite working constantly, he often had to borrow money, lived with his extended family in a small two-bedroom flat, and faced rejection, with some heroines refusing to work with him as he was considered “jinxed.”
His wife Pinkie supported him through these hardships, and his children, including Hrithik, experienced those struggles firsthand. Rakesh faced humiliations too, such as being asked to step aside in group photos with bigger stars. In 1987, determined to change course, he mortgaged his house and car to direct Khudgarz, which became a hit. Success followed with Khoon Bhari Maang and several other films.
His career-defining moment came in 2000 when he launched Hrithik in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, a blockbuster that began a new chapter. The father-son duo later created iconic films like Koi Mil Gaya and the Krrish franchise, cementing their legacy in Indian cinema.
