India created cricket history on March 8, 2026, by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While India’s batting dominated the first half, it was the outstanding bowling performance of Jasprit Bumrah that finished the game. Bumrah delivered a remarkable spell of 4 wickets for just 15 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Axar Patel also played an important role with three wickets, helping India restrict New Zealand to 159 runs in 19 overs. New Zealand struggled from the start of their chase after losing key wickets early and could not recover from the pressure created by India’s bowlers.
