Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that he is now using Zoho Mail, an Indian-made email service run by Zoho Corporation. The announcement came on October 8, 2025, through a social media post on platform X (formerly Twitter).
In his post, Amit Shah said, “Hello everyone, I have switched to Zoho Mail. Kindly note the change in my email address.” He also shared his new email ID — amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in — and requested people to use it for all future communication.
This move has drawn attention because Zoho Mail is a homegrown Indian platform, competing with global tech giants like Google and Microsoft. Shah’s decision is being seen as a big boost for the Indian tech industry and a step towards promoting digital self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat).
About Zoho Mail and Zoho Corporation
Zoho Mail is a secure email service developed by Zoho Corporation, a Chennai-based multinational technology company co-founded by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas in 1996. The company provides software solutions for businesses, including tools for communication, project management, and customer support.
Zoho Corporation currently employs over 18,000 people globally and serves more than 130 million users. In 2023, Zoho Mail completed 15 successful years of helping organisations manage communication safely and efficiently.
Zoho’s Recent Expansion
Zoho has been expanding its product range. Recently, the company launched a new messaging app called Arattai, designed to compete with WhatsApp in the Indian market. According to co-founder Sridhar Vembu, Arattai will soon offer end-to-end encryption for chats, ensuring privacy and security for users.
Zoho is already known for its strong range of business tools like Zoho CRM, Zoho Workspace, and Zoho Projects, which directly compete with platforms like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
Why This Move Matters
Amit Shah’s switch to Zoho Mail shows growing trust in Indian-made digital platforms. It highlights India’s potential to build world-class technology solutions that are secure, reliable, and competitive with global brands.
This decision not only promotes Make in India but also inspires millions to explore Indian alternatives for technology and communication.
