The K-pop world was recently surprised when Heeseung, one of the main members of the popular boy group ENHYPEN, announced that he would be leaving the group. The decision was officially confirmed by the group’s agency, BELIFT LAB, on March 10, 2026. According to the company, Heeseung chose to step away from the group to pursue his own solo music career, although he will continue working with the same label.
ENHYPEN debuted in 2020 through the survival show I-LAND and quickly became one of the fastest-growing K-pop groups worldwide. The original lineup had seven members: Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Ni-ki, and Heeseung. Heeseung was especially known for his role as the group’s main vocalist, contributing to many of the group’s popular songs and performances.
Why Did Heeseung Leave?
BELIFT LAB explained that the decision came after long discussions between the members and the company about the group’s future. During these conversations, it became clear that Heeseung wanted to explore a different musical direction and personal artistic vision. The agency said they respected his goals and agreed that he should pursue his own path as a solo artist.
Even though he is leaving the group, Heeseung is not leaving the company. Instead, he will stay with BELIFT LAB and is reportedly preparing for his first solo album and individual projects.
After his departure, ENHYPEN will continue promoting as a six-member group, including Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki.
Soon after the announcement, Heeseung shared a heartfelt message to fans, known as ENGENE. In his note, he thanked the members and fans for their support during the past six years and said the time with ENHYPEN was filled with unforgettable memories.
He also admitted that the decision was difficult but said he hopes to return with new music and a better version of himself as a solo artist.
The news quickly spread across social media, with many fans expressing shock, sadness, and support. Some fans even compared the moment to major departures in other pop groups because Heeseung was considered a core member of ENHYPEN.
While many fans are emotional about the change, others are excited to see what Heeseung will achieve as a solo artist while continuing to support the remaining ENHYPEN members in their next chapter.
