Famous singer Ozzy Osbourne, lead singer of the band Black Sabbath, has died at the age of 76.
He was born on December 3, 1948, in Birmingham and was known for his unique voice and bold personality. His band, Black Sabbath, played a big role in creating and shaping heavy metal music, inspiring many other artists. Even though he faced problems like addiction and personal issues, his influence on rock music was unmatched.
Ozzy Osbourne had a tough childhood and struggled with dyslexia and ADHD, which made him leave school at age 15. He worked in different jobs, including at a slaughterhouse. Hearing The Beatles’ music inspired him to follow a music career. He first started a band called Rare Breed with his friend Geezer Butler. Later, he joined another band with Butler, guitarist Tony Iommi, and drummer Bill Ward. This band was first called Polka Tulk Blues, then Earth, and later became Black Sabbath.
The band changed its name to Black Sabbath in 1968 and released their first album in 1970, which was a big hit. They went on to release other popular albums like Paranoid, Master of Reality, and Volume 4. But by the late 1970s, Ozzy Osbourne’s problems with drugs and alcohol started affecting the band. In 1979, the band removed him because they couldn’t rely on him anymore. Soon after, he started his solo career with an album called Blizzard of Ozz, which was a big success.
Ozzy Osbourne’s personal life was full of ups and downs. His first marriage to Thelma Riley ended because of his drug use and cheating. Later, he married Sharon Arden, the daughter of Black Sabbath’s manager, Don Arden. They had three children: Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. Even though Ozzy tried many times to quit drugs and alcohol, he continued to struggle with addiction for most of his life. In 2007, he was diagnosed with Parkinsonian syndrome, and later in 2019, with Parkinson’s disease.
