International Tiger Day

International Tiger Day 2025: International Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29 every year, to bring all tiger-range countries together and strengthen global tiger conservation. With 3,682 tigers, India emerges as the world leader in tiger conservation efforts.

This year’s theme for International Tiger Day is “Securing the future of tigers by placing Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities at the core.”
India has made outstanding progress in protecting tigers and now hosts 3,682 of these big cats, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav stated on Tuesday.

On his X account, Mr. Yadav said that India is now a global leader in saving tigers, with 58 reserves made just for them. He explained that protecting tigers also means keeping our forests healthy, since both are connected.

He asked people to take a pledge to protect tigers and their habitats, which also help local communities earn a living.
“Let the roars grow louder,” he wrote.

He also shared a video where PM Modi said that India has not only saved its tigers but also built a strong environment for them to live in. In many parts of India, people respect or even worship tigers, and in some tribal cultures, tigers are seen as family—like a brother.

The video talks more about India’s work to save tigers. It says that under PM Modi’s leadership, India is not just protecting tigers but also showing the world how it’s done.
With 58 tiger reserves and growing numbers, India is leading the way in tiger conservation. The tiger population has gone up from 1,411 to 3,682, thanks to good leadership and strong support from the public.

The video ends by saying that India’s success in saving tigers shows our clear goals and strong efforts. We are trying to keep a balance between nature, the economy, and the environment.
