Apple fans in India have a late night ahead of them. The company’s “Surprise and Shine” event is set for September 9, 2026, and it will stream at 10:30 PM IST — a good ten and a half hours after the 10:00 AM Pacific Time kickoff at Apple Park in Cupertino. This year’s keynote carries extra weight because it’s the first major product launch under new CEO John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook on September 1, 2026, closing out Cook’s roughly 14-year run at the helm.
Unlike a typical September refresh, the standard iPhone 18 is not expected to show up this time around. Reports suggest Apple has split its release schedule, pushing the regular iPhone 18, the iPhone 18e, and a next-gen iPhone Air to spring 2027. Instead, the spotlight falls on three premium devices: the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and — the big one — Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone.
The foldable, sometimes referred to as the iPhone Ultra, is rumored to carry a global price near $2,000, which could translate to somewhere around ₹1.9 to ₹2.1 lakh in India, with higher storage variants possibly crossing ₹2.3 lakh. The iPhone 18 Pro is estimated to start around ₹1.35 to ₹1.40 lakh, while the Pro Max could open near ₹1.55 lakh — though Apple hasn’t confirmed any pricing yet.
Alongside the phones, expect updated Apple Watch models, new AirPods with possible camera and health features, and a refreshed HomePod.
Indian viewers can catch the event live via Apple’s official website, the Apple TV app, or Apple’s YouTube channel. If Apple follows last year’s playbook, pre-orders should open around September 12, with retail availability and store pickups following roughly a week later — likely around September 18.
Beyond the hardware, this event doubles as an introduction for Ternus as Apple’s new public face. And if the foldable iPhone is confirmed, it marks Apple’s entry into a category long dominated by Samsung — arguably the biggest shift in iPhone design in years.
