Panchayat – a web series created by TVF (The Viral Fever) on Amazon Prime Video in 2020 had created a distinct relatability and gave the viewers a peek into village life.
A comedy-drama revolving around a city guy’s experiences in a village became India’s favourite Hindi web series.
Chandan Kumar, the script-writer of Panchayat season 1 and season 2, wanted to create a series that would show viewers a bit of rural life without being too preachy. And he accomplished it beyond words.
Set against the backdrop of rural India, it masterfully portrayed the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of everyday life in a small village. The characters were vividly depicted, each with their own unique stories, dreams, and struggles, making them incredibly relatable and endearing. From the resilient Pradhan ji trying to combat every challenge to the Panchayat secretary holding the balance in every situation, every character felt like someone we have encountered or know in our own lives.
This show told stories from a small village in India, showing the ups and downs of everyday life. The characters, like the village leader and secretary, felt real and relatable, making the show engaging and familiar to viewers.
The authentic stories and challenges depicted reflected the struggles encountered by individuals in rural settings, resonating with viewers who have faced similar obstacles in their own pursuits.
This series, through the characters’ experiences, subtly taught valuable wisdom without preaching. Whether it was about perseverance, education, or community, the lessons were enlightening and left a lasting impression.
The cinematography skillfully captured the rural beauty of India, immersing viewers in the village’s vibrant colors, landscapes, and tight-knit communities.
