Arvind Kejriwal’s wife not Allowed to meet him on Monday
Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal won’t be allowed to visit him in Tihar jail on Monday, according to claims made by his Aam Aadmi Party. The jail authorities have declined permission for her scheduled visit, citing the upcoming meeting between Delhi Minister Atishi and the Chief Minister.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is scheduled to visit him on Tuesday. According to sources, the jail regulations allow for two visitors to meet an inmate simultaneously. During Mr. Mann’s previous visit to Tihar Jail to meet Mr. Kejriwal on April 15, he was accompanied by AAP’s Organization General Secretary, Sandeep Pathak.
According to sources within Tihar Jail, Sunita Kejriwal might be permitted to meet Mr. Kejriwal after his meetings with Atishi and Bhagwant Mann, possibly after Tuesday. However, jail regulations stipulate that only two visits are allowed per week. Therefore, if Atishi meets Arvind Kejriwal on Monday and Bhagwant Mann meets him on Tuesday, no further meetings can take place with Mr. Kejriwal during the current week. Consequently, it’s likely that Sunita Kejriwal will have to wait until next week for her visit.
Kejriwal has been in jail since April 1, following his arrest on March 21 in relation to the Delhi liquor policy case. During his time in Tihar Jail, there has been significant controversy surrounding his diabetes and medication. The Chief Minister and his party have accused the authorities of withholding his medication since his arrest. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate has claimed that Mr. Kejriwal has been consuming food unsuitable for diabetics. On Saturday, Sunita Kejriwal conducted her first roadshow in Delhi, campaigning for the Lok Sabha election. The extensive roadshow was organized to support the AAP’s candidate in East Delhi. The party is vying for seats in four out of Delhi’s seven constituencies, while the Congress will compete in the remaining three. With Mr. Kejriwal unavailable, she is anticipated to lead the party’s campaign efforts in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat.
