Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has played only three IPL matches but has already impressed everyone with his powerful sixes, fast bat speed, and ability to dominate top international bowlers.

Suryavanshi, only 14 years old, made headlines by becoming the youngest player to score a century in men’s T20 cricket. Playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025, he smashed 100 runs in just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans in his third match. This was the second-fastest hundred in IPL history—just behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in 2013—and the fastest ever by an Indian. He also broke Yusuf Pathan’s record for Rajasthan Royals, who had earlier scored a 37-ball century in 2010.

Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi comes from Tajpur, a village in Bihar’s Samastipur district. Since there were not good training facilities there, he and his father travelled nearly 90 km daily to Patna. Despite the hardships, his father supported him fully. Suryavanshi credits his success to his parents, who made many sacrifices so he could chase his dreams.

After scoring a 38-ball 101 in Jaipur, Suryavanshi shared in a video on the official IPL site that he owed everything to his parents. He said his mother used to sleep for only three hours and woke up at 2 a.m. to cook for him. His father left his job, and his elder brother took over to support the family. Despite having limited resources, his father stood by him, and Suryavanshi believed his success was entirely due to his parents’ sacrifices.

Suryavanshi’s journey to success has been very quick. He made his first-class debut for Bihar in the 2023–24 Ranji Trophy when he was just 12 years and 284 days old. Earlier, he had performed well in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, which helped him get selected for the Under-19 Quadrangular series in late 2023, held in Andhra Pradesh with teams from Bangladesh, England, and two Indian squads.

Suryavanshi played well in U-19 matches and caught the eye of Wasim Jaffer, who gave him advice and support. Jaffer told him to stay confident and play his natural game. Later, Suryavanshi was chosen by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore in the IPL 2025 auction and made his debut after captain Sanju Samson got injured.
