Former Bangladesh cricketer, Tamim Iqbal was urgently taken to the hospital in a critical condition after experiencing chest pain during a Dhaka Premier League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club.
Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital after experiencing chest pain during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2025 match. According to sources, he is in critical condition. The incident occurred on Monday, March 24, during the game between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No. 3 Ground in Savar. Tamim, who had participated in the toss, felt discomfort while fielding in Shinepukur’s innings. A medical team attended to him, and a helicopter was called to transport him, but he was unable to board and was instead taken to Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialised Hospital in Dhaka.
Tamim has been in great form in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), currently ranked as the fourth-highest run-scorer. In seven matches, the left-handed batsman has scored 368 runs, averaging 73.60, with a strike rate of 102.50, and has hit two centuries.
Earlier this year, in January, Tamim retired from international cricket for the second time, confirming he would not take part in the Champions Trophy. After that, he led Fortune Barishal to victory in the 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Tamim showed his skill and experience by scoring 413 runs in 14 matches, with four half-centuries. In the final, his quick 54 from 29 balls helped Barishal secure a three-wicket win against Chittagong Kings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
