Rukhsar Rehman

Rukhsar Rehman started acting in Bollywood at 17 with Rishi Kapoor but had to quit when her parents arranged her marriage, thinking acting was not a stable job. After her marriage ended, she escaped with her 8-month-old daughter and went back home. Years later, she left her daughter with her parents and moved to Mumbai to start over and return to acting.

Not all Bollywood stories are about fame and glamour—some are about strength and tough choices. Actress Rukhsar Rehman, who started her career with Rishi Kapoor, faced a tough journey. Even after early success, she had to leave acting because of family pressure. Later, after her marriage ended, she ran away with her baby daughter to start over. She recently shared her life’s ups and downs on the Humans of Bombay Instagram page.

Rukhsar Rehman was only a teenager when she acted with Rishi Kapoor in movies like Yaad Rakhegi Duniya and Inteha Pyar Ki. At just 17, she was already getting lead roles, and many saw her as a rising star. But she was still figuring out what success meant. Her acting career was cut short—not due to failure, but because her parents did not see acting as a proper job.

Even though she had done well in films, her parents arranged her marriage, thinking a stable home life was more important than fame. She tried to settle into life as a wife and later as a mother to her daughter, Aisha Ahmed. But the marriage started falling apart, and the emotional stress led her to make a big decision that would change her life.

At 19, Rukhsar left her husband’s home, carrying her 8-month-old daughter. Many criticized her for being divorced so young, but she felt she had no choice. She went back to her hometown, Rampur, where her father welcomed her with open arms. To earn a living, she opened a boutique, but her heart still missed acting—the dream she had given up.

Over the years, her desire to act again only grew. In 2005, she made another tough decision—she left her daughter Aisha with her parents and moved to Mumbai to restart her acting career. It was painful to be apart from Aisha, but Rukhsar knew it was the only way to build a better future for them.

Acting Comeback of Rukhsar Rehman

It wasn’t easy—she faced many rejections and auditions—but slowly she began getting roles in movies like D, Sarkar, PK, God Tussi Great Ho, Uri, and 83. She also acted in TV shows like Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Tumhari Paakhi, Adaalat, and Haq Se. Each role helped her rebuild her career and reconnect with her true self.

Later, Rukhsar brought Aisha to Mumbai so they could live together again. Aisha, inspired by her mother’s strength, also became an actress, starring in shows like Adulting and Minus One.

Rukhsar later married Faruk Kabir, but that relationship ended after 13 years. Through all the ups and downs, Aisha stayed by her side. Rukhsar says her daughter helped her grow just as much as she raised her. Many people were surprised to learn recently that Rukhsar is actress Aisha Ahmed’s mother. This news led to an outpouring of praise and emotional memories from fans. Social media was filled with love for Rukhsar’s past work in PK, Tumhari Paakhi, and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge.

Rukhsar once thought her acting story had ended, but now she sees her return as something powerful. She said, “When you’re meant to do something, you’ll find your way back—when the time is right.” For her, this comeback is more than just a career success; it’s a personal triumph.
