Who is Ramandeep Singh?

Ramandeep Singh, a strong all-rounder from Chandigarh, is known for his hard-hitting batting and great fielding. He developed his pace bowling skills to become a key player in T20 cricket. In 2022, while playing for Punjab, he took a hat-trick, including Ambati Rayudu’s wicket. He was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2022 but moved to KKR in 2024, where he played all 14 games in their winning season. His performances earned him a spot in India A and then a call-up to the Indian team.

Ramandeep Singh had a remarkable T20I debut for India in the third T20I against South Africa on Wednesday, November 13, at SuperSport Park in Centurion, instantly making his mark in the history books.

The Punjab cricketer made a memorable entrance into international cricket by hitting a spectacular six off his very first ball at SuperSport Park in Centurion, securing his place in the record books. His impressive six in the third T20I set a couple of new records.

As a bowler, the all-rounder, who recently participated in the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 in Oman, has claimed 16 wickets in 19 T20 matches, with an impressive average of just over 16 and an economy rate of 7.86.

Interestingly, the Punjab native received his debut cap from star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in Centurion. It remains to be seen if he will get another chance to play in the fourth and final T20I against South Africa, scheduled for Friday, November 15, at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

After making a name for himself in the IPL and for India A with his exceptional fielding and powerful hitting, Ramandeep Singh has finally earned the opportunity to represent India at the highest level. He made his debut in the third T20I against South Africa.

Ramandeep, originally from Chandigarh, plays domestic cricket for Punjab. He got his big opportunity when selected by the Mumbai Indians in the 2022 IPL auction, later joining Kolkata Knight Riders for their championship-winning season in 2024.
