Trinamool leader Mahua Moitra got married to former MP Pinaki Misra in Germany.
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra recently got married to former BJD MP Pinaki Misra in a small, private ceremony in Berlin, Germany. She shared a wedding photo on social media, where the couple is seen cutting their wedding cake. Instead of wearing a traditional red outfit, Mahua chose a soft pink Banarasi silk saree. Several photos of her in the pink brocade saree by designer brand Raw Mango were shared online, showing her looking beautiful on her special day.
For her wedding, Mahua Moitra wore a special Parigul saree made by designer brand Raw Mango. It was a light pink Banarasi silk saree with real gold and silver threads (zari) and bright pink floral designs. The saree design was inspired by old traditional weaves and made using a detailed Kadwa technique, where each flower pattern was woven one by one, so the back of the saree looked neat without loose threads. Raw Mango shared that Mahua looked elegant in this handcrafted saree during her private wedding in Berlin, paired with a matching pale pink silk blouse.
Mahua Moitra and Pinaki Mishra
Mahua Moitra, 50, is a former investment banker who is now a politician. She is currently serving her second term as a Member of Parliament from Krishnanagar, West Bengal. She began her political journey with the Indian Youth Congress before joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2010. She was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson.
In 2023, she was expelled from Parliament over allegations that she accepted money and gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in return for asking certain questions in Parliament—a claim made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and based on a complaint from Moitra’s friend Jai Anant Dehadrai. Moitra denied the charges and was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 2024.
Pinaki Mishra, 65, is a senior Supreme Court lawyer and former MP from Puri, Odisha, having served four terms as a BJD leader. He, too, was previously married.
Their recent marriage has attracted a lot of public interest and well-wishes, including greetings from West Bengal BJP president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar.
