Comedian Kunal Kamra criticized Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, accusing the quick commerce platform of exploiting gig workers and asserting that they are not genuine job creators.

Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, stated that the Zomato-backed company, known for its 10-minute delivery service, achieved a record number of orders in a single day on New Year’s Eve.

On Tuesday, Blinkit’s co-founder and CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, shared insights about the most ordered items on the company’s app during New Year’s Eve. Comedian Kunal Kamra responded critically, questioning the average wages paid to Blinkit’s delivery partners in 2024.

In a post on X, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced that the Zomato-backed company, known for its 10-minute delivery service, achieved its highest-ever orders in a single day, along with the highest orders per minute (OPM), orders per hour (OPH), and the largest amount of tips given to delivery partners. He humorously added, “1,22,356 packs of condoms, 45,531 bottles of mineral water, 22,322 PartySmarts, and 2,434 Eno are on their way right now! Prep for the after party?”

Comedian Kunal Kamra criticized Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, accusing the quick commerce platform of exploiting gig workers and claiming they are not true job creators. Kamra likened them to “landlords without owning any land” and further alleged that they are “thugs using data as oil without compensating for the oil fields.” He predicted that regulations would eventually rein them in. Kamra also challenged Dhindsa to provide information on the average wages paid to Blinkit’s delivery partners in 2024. As of yet, Dhindsa has not responded.

The payment that the Blinkit guys get

According to Blinkit’s website, delivery partners can earn up to ₹50,000 per month, including incentives and additional benefits. Payments are made weekly, and they have the flexibility to choose their own work hours, whether it’s 4, 8, or 10 hours per day. To qualify, delivery partners must be at least 18 years old and are provided with accidental and medical insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh. They also receive a joining bonus of up to ₹4,000.
