Rohan Mirchandani, founder of snack foods company Epigamia, passed away due to cardiac arrest on Saturday at the age of 41. Drums Food International Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Epigamia, known for its flavored yogurt and juices, released a statement requesting the media and public to respect the privacy of Mirchandani’s family during this difficult time. The company assured that its senior leadership, led by COO Ankur Goel and co-founder Uday Thakker, will continue to manage daily operations with full support from the board of directors, including Mirchandani’s family, Raj Mirchandani, Verlinvest, and DSG Consumer Partners.
Epigamia CEO’s Death Causes Concerns
Following the sudden death of Rohan Mirchandani, CEO of Epigamia, due to cardiac arrest, concerns have been raised about whether stress might be a factor, especially given the rising number of young people facing such incidents. Experts stress that Indians should prioritize early heart check-ups, as they are genetically predisposed to heart disease. Additionally, conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity add to the risk.
Sudden cardiac arrest, which is a sudden failure of the heart’s electrical impulses, can affect anyone, regardless of age, if underlying conditions exist. It differs from a heart attack, which occurs due to blockages in the arteries that restrict blood flow to the heart. In contrast, sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions, leading to irregular heartbeats and eventually heart failure. This rapid disruption prevents effective blood circulation and can be fatal. However, a heart attack can sometimes trigger sudden cardiac arrest by altering the heart’s electrical activity.
