What is the Amrit Bharat Express?
The Amrit Bharat Express is a high-speed express train provided by Indian Railways. It falls under the non-AC Sleeper Cum Unreserved Class category, aiming to be a cost-effective option for longer journeys. These night express trains are intended to connect Indian cities situated over 800 km apart or requiring more than ten hours of travel time with current services.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi recently inaugurated two Amrit Bharat trains- the Darbhanga-Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Express and the Malda Town-Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminus (Bengaluru) Amrit Bharat Express.
What is special about the Amrit Bharat Express?
As per information from railway authorities, these trains have locomotives designed with aerodynamics in mind. The Amrit Bharat Express stands out with its attractive orange and grey look. The train is fitted with a WAP5 locomotive at both ends, allowing for push-pull operation, resulting in quicker acceleration and shorter travel times.
Amrit Bharat Express Ticket and Schedule
The exact ticket cost for the Darbhanga-Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat Express is currently undisclosed, as it is not yet posted on the IRCTC website.
Train number 15557, is scheduled to leave Darbhanga every Monday and Thursday at 3:00 PM. Its anticipated arrival at Anand Vihar Terminal station in Delhi is expected at 12:35 PM the next day, with a total travel duration of 21 hours and 35 minutes. The train will make stops at different stations, including Kamtul, Janakpur Road, Sitamarhi, Bairgania, Raxaul, Narkatiyaganj, Bagha, Kaptanganj, Gorakhpur, Basti, Mankapur, Ayodhya Dham, Lucknow, Kanpur Central, Etawah, Tundla, Aligarh Junction, and ultimately, Anand Vihar Terminal.
Furthermore, six new Vande Bharat Trains will be introduced, playing a role in the growth of the nation’s railway network. These Vande Bharat Express trains will run on different routes, such as Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi, Amritsar-Delhi, Coimbatore-Bangalore Cantt, Mangalore-Madgaon, and Jalna-Mumbai.
The Northern Railway mentioned that the building’s construction and the addition of new facilities at the Ayodhya station, located within walking distance of the Ram Temple, incurred a cost of ₹241 crore.
