Sai Sudharsan Acquired by Gujarat Titans
Sai Sudharsan was acquired by Gujarat Titans for INR 20 lakh in the IPL 2022 auction. Former Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya had notably stated, “Going forward, if I’m not wrong, in two years, he’ll do something great for franchise cricket and eventually for India.” This proclamation came after Sudharsan’s impressive innings of 62 off 48 balls against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Following Pandya’s commendation seven months later, Sudharsan, a prominent batsman, made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Team India against South Africa on Sunday.
The Achievements of Sai Sudharsan
Due to his rapid ascent in the IPL and Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Sai gained widespread recognition in white-ball cricket. He was part of Tamil Nadu’s lineup in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Gujarat Titans secured Sudharsan for a modest sum of INR 20 lakh.
In his inaugural season with the Titans, the young Indian batsman accumulated 145 runs across 5 matches. Sudharsan also achieved his first-ever half-century in his debut IPL season.
Sudharsan emerged as the highest-earning player in the first TNPL auction earlier this year. Coming back for Gujarat Titans’ title defense in the world’s wealthiest league, he scored an impressive 362 runs for Pandya and his teammates in just 8 matches.
The Indian batsman achieved three half-centuries in the previous season for the 2022 champions. Sudharsan further boosted his reputation by playing a remarkable innings of 96 runs off 47 balls in the IPL 2023 final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Narendra Modi Stadium.
