NEET UG 2026 Cancelled After Paper Leak Allegations

The NEET UG 2026 examination has been officially cancelled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after allegations of paper leaks and irregularities surfaced across the country. The decision has shocked lakhs of students who appeared for the highly competitive medical entrance exam on May 3, 2026.

According to the NTA, the cancellation was approved by the Government of India after reviewing inputs from central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities. In its official statement, the agency said that the integrity of the examination process had been compromised and “could not be allowed to stand.”

The NEET UG exam is one of India’s biggest entrance tests, conducted for admission into MBBS and other medical courses. This year, millions of students appeared for the exam after months and even years of preparation. However, soon after the test, reports of leaked question papers and suspicious activities began circulating on social media and news platforms.

The controversy quickly led to protests by students, especially in Delhi, where many aspirants gathered demanding transparency, justice, and a fair re-examination process. Students expressed frustration over the uncertainty surrounding their future and the mental stress caused by repeated controversies in national-level examinations.

The NTA stated that it had referred the matter to central agencies on May 8 for independent verification. Based on the investigation and evidence collected, authorities decided to cancel the exam entirely and conduct a fresh examination on new dates, which will be announced soon. New admit cards and schedules will also be released separately.

Meanwhile, the Government of India has handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a detailed inquiry into the allegations. The NTA has assured full cooperation with investigators and promised to provide all necessary documents and records.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the security and credibility of competitive exams in India. Students and parents are now hoping for a transparent and secure re-examination process that restores trust in the system.

As the investigation continues, all eyes remain on the authorities for the announcement of fresh NEET UG 2026 exam dates and further action against those responsible for the alleged paper leak.
