The world of Odia music is in deep sorrow. Humane Sagar, a popular Odia singer, passed away on 17 November 2025 at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, just days after being admitted for critical illness. He was only 36 years old. His sudden death has left fans, colleagues, and his home state reeling.
Humane Sagar was rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on 14 November in a serious condition. Doctors reported that he was suffering from bilateral pneumonia along with multiple organ failures, including acute chronic liver failure, heart dysfunction, and kidney injury. Despite the use of advanced life-support systems, his condition did not improve. According to Dr. Srikant Behera from AIIMS, he developed Multi-Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS) and respiratory failure, among other critical complications. Sadly, he passed away at 9:08 PM on 17 November, after three days of intensive treatment.
The Musical Journey of Humane Sagar
Born on 25 November 1990 in Titilagarh, Bolangir, Humane grew up in a musical family. His grandfather and father were both music directors, so music was a part of his life from early childhood. His talent truly shone when he won Tarang TV’s “Voice of Odisha Season 2” in 2012. This victory gave him a big break into Ollywood (the Odia film industry). His first playback singing role was in the 2015 film “Ishq Tu Hi Tu”, which became a hit and made him a household name.
His death sparked wide mourning in Odisha and beyond. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed deep grief, calling it a “huge and irreparable loss” to music and cinema. On his social media, he offered heartfelt condolences to Humane’s family.
Other leaders also reacted — Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP MP Baijayant Panda shared their sadness and prayed for peace for the departed soul.
Humane Sagar’s voice touched many hearts. His journey from a small town in Odisha to becoming a loved singer was an inspiring one. Though he is no more, his songs and legacy will continue to live on in Odia music. May he rest in peace.
