Ola Electric, a prominent player in the EV two-wheeler market, is expanding its service network to over 5,000 locations by the end of 2025 in response to rising customer complaints and criticism over its after-sales service. Currently operating around 500 service centers, Bhavish Aggarwal, founder of Ola plans to open 1,000 new centers in the next two to three months, with a focus on providing one-day service. To achieve this, the company intends to train 100,000 technicians over the next year.

The company’s owner, Bhavish Aggarwal, is also aiming to strengthen its presence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, both for sales and after-sales services. Ola Electric’s efforts come after receiving scrutiny from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) and the Department of Consumer Affairs due to more than 10,000 consumer complaints, primarily related to after-sales service. The CCPA had issued a show-cause notice accusing Ola of misleading advertising and unfair trade practices. In its defense, Ola claimed to have resolved 99% of the complaints to customer satisfaction through its robust redressal mechanism.

In addition, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) and the Ministry of Transport are involved in reviewing Ola’s warranty commitments and customer concerns regarding the quality of its e-scooters. Ola’s expansion and service improvements are seen as a strategic move to rebuild its brand reputation and address consumer concerns, ensuring a more reliable after-sales experience as it continues to grow its footprint across India.

Bhavish Aggarwal and Kunal Kamra

Comedian Kunal Kamra humorously remarked on Monday that he had “no choice” but to accept Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal’s “offer to work” at the company’s service center, provided they agreed to four key conditions, including completing services within seven days and offering free service insurance.

This followed a recent exchange between Kunal Kamra and Bhavish Aggarwal on X, where Kamra highlighted the buildup of Ola Electric scooters outside what seemed to be an Ola store.
