Rahul Dravid’s term as head coach of Team India concluded after the T20 World Cup 2024 final, where India won the prestigious trophy by defeating South Africa by seven runs, ending a 17-year wait.

In his first press conference, Gautam Gambhir, the new coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, discussed his relationship with Kohli, Rohit’s future in ODIs, and workload management. Gambhir’s tenure begins this week with a tour of Sri Lanka, featuring three T20Is and three ODIs.

Taking charge of an incredibly successful team that just won the T20 World Cup 2024, Gautam Gambhir is aware of the challenges ahead. While India became T20 world champions, they were also runners-up in the ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship. As the new head coach of India, Gambhir openly acknowledged that he is inheriting a highly successful team and has big shoes to fill in his new role with the national team.
