After missing the ongoing Test series against England due to personal reasons, Virat Kohli has disclosed that his wife Anushka Sharma has given birth to their second child. Kohli shared on Instagram that their son, named Akaay, was born on February 15th.
Virat wrote,”With abundant happiness and our hearts all of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcome our baby boy Akaay & Vamika’s little brother into this world!
We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We respect you to kindly respect our privacy athis time. Love and gratitude. Virat & Anushka”.
What is the Meaning of Akaay?
Virat Kohli and Anshka Sharma’s son has been named Akaay, derived from the Sanskrit language, means ‘body-less’ or ‘Nirakaar’. It carries various cultural significances, like, in Turkish, it symbolizes a radiant moon. In the Sanskrit, it signifies “immortal” or something that remains undecayed.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, affectionately known as ‘Virushka’ by their fans, exchanged vows in December 2017. In 2021, the couple joyfully welcomed their daughter Vamika into the world.
Kohli, who was in Hyderabad before the first Test of the ongoing series against England, departed to be with his family and later confirmed his unavailability for the entire series. Initially, he had intended to miss only the first two games. India, leading the five-match series 2-1, finalized their squad for the final three Tests just over a week ago.
During the birth of their first child, Kohli withdrew from the last three of the four Tests during the Australia tour in 2020-21. As Kohli was India’s captain at the time, Ajinkya Rahane filled in for the remaining three Tests.
Kohli’s most recent appearance for India was in mid-January when he returned to the T20 team for a series against Afghanistan, with an eye on the upcoming World Cup on June 1st.
